Fr. Tim McMahon, SJ Scholarship

GET INVOLVED

Fifteen years ago, Fr. Tim McMahon took a chance on an idea and a community. As Provincial of the Jesuits of the USA, Central and Southern Province, he made a faith-filled decision to establish Arrupe Jesuit High School in the heart of Denver that forever changed the trajectory of what was possible for low-income, inner city students. Seven years later he returned to Denver, this time to lead Arrupe Jesuit as its President.

What Fr. Tim has accomplished in his eight years is nothing short of astounding. His leadership has resulted in:

  • Building the student body from 300 students to 420 students
  • Growing from 202 alumni to 699 (soon to be 780!)
  • Increasing from 89 CWSP employers to 130
  • Doubling annual philanthropic revenue
  • Completing a successful $13 million campaign, both expanding and renovating the school as well as establishing the STAR Endowment Fund

But there is much more to Fr. Tim than facts and figures to support his many successes. He embodies a fierce passion for justice, his wit is second to none, and his breadth of knowledge is a resource for all of us. He is all of this and more because he has given his life up to the Lord, following His will as a true man for others.

In honor of the many gifts he has been to this school, we are establishing the first endowed scholarship in Arrupe Jesuit history. The Fr. Timothy McMahon, SJ Scholarship will celebrate Fr. Tim’s legacy at Arrupe Jesuit ensuring that a Jesuit, college preparatory education with a corporate work study program is available to any student willing to put in the work, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

In just a few short months, Fr. Tim will end his time as President of Arrupe Jesuit and then take a sabbatical prior to embarking on his next mission, which is still to be decided. Before saying goodbye to Fr. Tim, please consider making a meaningful gift to the Fr. Timothy McMahon, SJ Scholarship. A presidential transition creates a unique opportunity to say “thank you” to Fr. Tim and express just how transformed we are for having partnered with him in this mission over the years!
